About:
Caroline Macey attended the central school of art. She earned her BA Honours in Fine Art Printmaking in 1986, and her Post Graduate Advanced Diploma in Printmaking in 1987. Caroline is currently an elected A.R.E of the Royal Society of Painter-Printmakers.
After a career in arts education and over twenty five years as a practising artist following my education at the central school of art, I moved from London in 2002 to set up a printmaking studio in Hastings. I have also set up life drawing and Watercolour classes in Hastings and St Leonards.
My art has always been expressed through a love of the study of the figure and how to incorporate this knowledge into complex, interwoven narrative works. My inspiration comes through the working and reworking of these images, exploring the imagined and real obsessions that define the structure of an often disturbing society.
Although some of my work is on a large scale, the technique I have developed using Sankakuto cutting tools on Japanese vinyl block allows me to capture the woodcut-like intimacy of a miniature.
